Junior Network Administrator (Toronto)

The Company:

Cineflix Media creates, produces, and distributes popular factual and scripted content for the global market with operations in Montreal, Toronto, New York, London, and Dublin.  Producing approximately 200 hours of internationally appealing programming per year across a wide range of genres, and with a growing catalogue of 4,500 hours, Cineflix is behind some of the most highly rated TV brands.

The Role: 

Cineflix is currently looking for a Junior Network Administrator. This is a full-time position based out of our Toronto office.

The Junior Network Administrator’s role is to maintain the Cineflix computing environment by monitoring network performance to ensure availability to all offices/users and perform necessary maintenance and troubleshooting to support network availability by:

  • Supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, routers, firewalls, and Internet. 
  • Maintaining networking equipment and updates such Windows Server/AD, OSX servers/OD, VPN gateways, and Cisco Firewall/intrusion detection systems. 

The Junior Network Administrator will also support IT staff as a Level 2 helpdesk technician for support tickets by:

  • Assisting production, distribution and corporate staff in North America and Europe
  • Providing work tool support in a primarily Mac environment (computers, tablets, phones, apps).
  • Assisting in special projects and initiatives.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Monitoring:

  • Software Installs/update, and security patches.
  • Windows Server, Windows AD and OSX Server/OD installations and updates
  • Cisco ASA and Firewall configuration and updates
  • Cisco VPN
  • Monthly user Audits and Account reconciliation

Operational Management:

  • Monitor the Cineflix global IT network in 6 worldwide offices daily.
  • Review network and server logs, troubleshooting and solving network issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve helpdesk tickets as assigned
  • Escalate Level 3 issues to Network Architect when necessary
  • Monitor business systems such as Office 365
  • Monitor all networking hardware, such as Wi-Fi, Firewall, and Backups. 
  • Maintain/update all internal technical document for the network 
  • Apply diagnostic utilities/tools to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to Level 2 helpdesk requests.
  • Act as Level 2 support on networking and server issues from IT Coordinator.


Skills and Qualifications:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 3-5 years’ equivalent work experience.
  • Industry recognized IT Certifications such as Windows MSCE, Network N+, Cisco and Apple certs etc.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 3-5-year experience and knowledge of computer hardware, with an emphasis on networking devices, TCP/IP, HTTPS, VPN
  • Experience with Windows Server and Windows AD, and other server operating systems, including Mac OS X
  • Working knowledge of a range of networking diagnostic utilities, like Nagios, and Cacti
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.

Other Requirements: 

  • Rapid response to escalate network issues via helpdesk, remote or telephone requests
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Open to flex hours during the week, position will require some off hours and weekend support and cover.
