Victor Garber to Receive Cineflix Award of Excellence at 2009 Banff World Television Festival

Banff World Television Festival (BANFF) announces that actor Victor Garber will receive the Cineflix Award of Excellence at the 30th edition of BANFF, which takes place at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Canada, June 7-10, 2009.

“Victor Garber represents artistic sophistication from the international film and TV screen to the Broadway stage,” says Peter Vamos, Executive Director of BANFF. “We are proud to present the Cineflix Award of Excellence to Mr. Garber as a way to acknowledge his career accomplishments and his extraordinary contributions to the television industry.”

Canadian-born Victor Garber has appeared in some of the most memorable works of film, television and stage. He has been nominated for six Emmy Awards for his work on television, including three for the ABC drama, Alias,  two for comedic guest-star roles on Frasier and Will & Grace; and a nomination for his portrayal of Sid Luft in the television movie Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows. He most recently appeared in  Eli Stone, Justice, Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, ABC’s musical version of Annie, and in The Wonderful World of Disney film Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Most recently, Garber portrayed San Francisco mayor George Moscone in Gus Van Sant’s Academy Award-nominated film Milk.  Additionally, he has appeared in Sleepless in Seattle, Legally Blonde and the highest-grossing film of all-time: Titanic. Garber also earned four Tony nominations for his work in Damn Yankees, Lend Me A Tenor, Deathtrap and Little Me.

This July Garber will appear as the voice of Sinestro in DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation film, Green Lantern: First Flight.

The Cineflix Award of Excellence acknowledges exceptional career achievement.  The award will be presented to Victor Garber on Sunday June 7, 2009 at the Banff World Television Awards.
