Science behind extreme speed and power explored in new Cineflix co-production The Ultimates
June 02, 2003
Montreal, June 2, 2003 – A new Cineflix documentary co-production about pushing speed and power to the limit has begun shooting in Canada, the United States, the U.K. and Europe announced Cineflix Vice President and Executive Producer André Barro today.
The Ultimates, a 6X1 hour technology series with attitude, is co-produced by Cineflix in association Wark Clements in Scotland and London-based One on One Productions and Pioneer Productions.
“By collaborating with such a high caliber team of international co-producers, we are certain to produce a successful series that keeps with the Cineflix tradition of offering wide-ranging and high-quality stories about breakthroughs in science and technology, exciting moments in history and fascinating individuals,” said Barro.
The Ultimates will focus on the creation and scientific research behind notorious war-time explosions, the worst collisions in sports car history, supersonic trains, roller-coasters, and the world’s most advanced fighting machines – strike planes and attack helicopters. The series will also look at the designers and creators whose obsession with speed and power pushes them to join the dog-eat-dog race for military, mechanical and technological superiority.
Broadcasting in Fall 2003 on Channel 5 in the U.K, Discovery Europe, Discovery Canada and Canal D, The Ultimates is executive produced by Glen Salzman, André Barro, David Darlow, Alan Clements and Stuart Carter. Canadian Series Producer is Chantal Bowen. A Canada-UK co-production, The Ultimates is produced by Cineflix in association with One on One Productions, Wark Clements, and Pioneer Productions, with the financial participation of Discovery Channel Canada, Discovery Europe, Channel 5, Canal D, The Quebec Film and Television Tax Credit Administered by SODEC and the Canadian Film or Video Tax Credit.
