Cineflix celebrates MIPTV 2003 with deals for all series

April, 2003 : Cineflix International Ltd, the London-based international television distribution arm of Canadian production company Cineflix has announced today sales at MipTV 2003 that spanned their current portfolio of productions, exceeding expectations and establishing the company as a successful international distributor.
The Holland Media Group went for 53 episodes of the documentary series Birth Stories (65×30); the universally popular show that follows women through the pivotal months of their pregnancies and births which is currently in production on 27 new episodes.
Birth Stories airs on Living TV in the UK; on Canada’s Life Network; and on Oxygen in the U.S.
They also picked up the brand new 6×60 series Mayday, which has already been pre-sold to UK broadcaster Five; to France 5; and to Discovery and Canal D in Canada.
The show was also licensed to TVNZ in New Zealand and the Seven Network in Australia.
Mayday delves into the science behind the causes of recent air crashes, employing dramatic recreation to evoke the tense moments of flights in peril. Swissair Flight 111, which ended in tragedy off the coast of Newfoundland in 1998; United Airlines Flight 811 near Honolulu, where a 747 cargo door blew off creating a fatal hole in the fuselage; and the Air Transat emergency landing in the Azores are some of the gripping Mayday flights.
Finally, commercial broadcaster TV4 in Sweden bagged series 3 of the worldwide success, “Dogs With Jobs”, a documentary looking at dogs with extraordinary life tasks.
