From the fastest fighter jets to the baddest bikes, The Greatest Ever debates them all

August 18, 2005

Toronto, August 18, 2005 : What is the top fighter jet of all time? The greatest tank? The best sports car? The Greatest Ever, a “Top 10” celebration of human achievements, is a fast-paced, informative and irreverent look at the marvels of modern technology. Launching Thurs., Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT on Discovery Channel Canada, each episode of The Greatest Ever features handpicked advocates who spark the debate and defend their favorites. Does your top pick make the list?

The Greatest Ever features fascinating facts, definitive lists, famous faces and some surprising conclusions – but how does your favourite measure up? As high-profile advocates debate and defend their top picks, The Greatest Ever team puts the top contenders through the paces, testing out their claims and then debate the virtues and failings of each awesome machine. Tune in and witness the Y2K superbike racing a jet, putting the pedal to the metal in a Ferrari Enzo, and rock star Bruce Dickinson taking a tank out for a muddy ride.

On Sept.15, the series kicks off with The Greatest Ever “Motorcycles,” a look at the bikes that push the boundaries of speed, performance and style. Watch as actor Charley Boorman (OLN’s Long Way Round and feature films Excalibur, Deliverance) attempts to destroy an indestructible motorcycle by filling its tank with used cooking oil and tossing it off a four-storey building.
