William Shatner, host of William Shatner's Weird or What?, is a genuine pop culture icon and one of Hollywood’s most recognizable figures. The Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning actor has logged an impressive 50-plus years in front of the camera.
On television, Shatner starred as the legendary Captain Kirk on Star Trek in the 1960s, a streetwise cop on T.J. Hooker in the 1980s, and most recently as a master litigator on both The Practice and Boston Legal. He also hosted television’s first reality-based series, Rescue 911 and currently showcases his edgy interviewing style in the critically acclaimed celebrity talk show Shatner's Raw Nerve (Biography Channel).
On the big screen, Shatner starred in seven Star Trek films, made his feature film directorial debut in 1989 with Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and has since honed his comedic talents in blockbusters including Airplane 2: The Sequel, Loaded Weapon, and Miss Congeniality. Shatner also wrote and directed the documentary The Captains where he explores the lasting legacy that Star Trek has had on his own life and the lives of his co-stars.
A talented horseman and major Hollywood philanthropist, Shatner has also written over 30 fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, including his autobiography Up Till Now (2008) and Shatner Rules (2011).
Following the success of his celebrated spoken word recording Has Been, Shatner’s newest musical project is the space-inspired album Seeking Major Tom. Released in 2011, it features heavy metal covers, as well as songs by U2, Queen and Frank Sinatra.
